Newstime, (a Yorkshire distribution company for newspapers, magazines, milk and related consumables) were bound by inflexible IT systems, which, it was felt, were holding them back with potential growth.

They commissioned Lead Technologies to replace their existing IT systems (DOS based application) with a web based business management system that would co-ordinate every aspect of their business processes, and all of a sudden technology is taking on more than Newstime had thought possible.

The system includes features such us automated invoicing, label printing and stock control (through an integrated EPOS system) on the inhouse side, and a comprehensive e-commerce functionality, allowing management of Newstime accounts client side.

All are integrated through the back-end legacy system.

The Lead Technologies solution also enables Newstime to track deliveries in real time through a PDA, as well as to assist the business with marketing and prospecting activities, through a system which allows them to locate potential clients along a specific delivery route, making the route more profitable.

With such a comprehensive system in place, and integrated management reporting, Newstime has been able to step back and look at the bigger picture, having now expanded the business, with roll-out to several additional locations.
